General Robert B. McClure constructed the Bayonet Golf Course in 1954. Bayonet was named after the 7th Infantry Light Fighter "Bayonet" Division. General McClure was a left handed golfer with a generous fade. He had the men under his command construct this course to aid in lowering his handicap by finding dogleg lefts wherever they could on the property. The "Combat Corner" is holes 11-15. The course features narrow, Tall Cypress lined fairways and small tradition green styles compared to its sister course. Bayonet and Blackhorse have hosted several SGT Professional Championships and Q School events.
