1925–2020
The most influential American designer of the modern era. Railroad ties, pot bunkers, and the island green at TPC Sawgrass — Dye made hard look beautiful.
b. 1940
The greatest player of all time turned prolific architect. His courses reward the bold, demanding precision off the tee and nerve into the green.
1870–1934
The strategic-school master behind Augusta National and Cypress Point. Camouflage, width, and greens that reward angles over brute force.
1872–1948
The Scottish-born craftsman whose crowned, repelling greens — Pinehurst No. 2 the archetype — still confound modern players a century on.
1876–1942
Golden-age architect of brawny championship tests. Bethpage Black and Winged Foot carry his signature: big, demanding, and proudly penal.
b. 1945
The modern shaping virtuoso. Fazio courses are immaculately conditioned and visually dramatic — Shadow Creek conjured a forest out of the Nevada desert.
1821–1908
The founding father. The St Andrews legend laid out the links that defined the game — Prestwick, Carnoustie, Dornoch, County Down.
They are community-built courses inspired by the work of these real-world architects, often listed under alternate names for licensing reasons. For example, the course inspired by Augusta National (designed by Alister MacKenzie and Bobby Jones) appears in GSPro as “Georgia Golf Club.” They are designer-created tributes, not official recreations.
GSPro has community builds inspired by several Pete Dye designs, including TPC Sawgrass (the famous island green at 17), Harbour Town, the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, and the Pete Dye Course at French Lick.
Augusta National was designed by Alister MacKenzie with Bobby Jones. A course inspired by it is available in GSPro under the name “Georgia Golf Club,” and it is one of the most-played courses in the directory.
We map each simulator course to the architect of the real-world course it is inspired by, using the real course name behind the GSPro listing. This first set covers marquee architects; coverage expands as we map more of the directory.
